Important point. When Madero spoke of increased democracy for Mexico, he was most interested in the middle to upper-middle classes (professionals, entrepreneurs, hacendados, like himself) who didn't have access to the political process under Díaz. He wasn't interested in social reform, and he didn't believe that campesinos or peasant laborers could or should have a role in the governing of the nation.
