Good point. This also raises the question of what were the goals of the Revolution and what did most Mexicans want as a result? Like Mexico itself, there were many different competing interests in play and most revolutionaries had their own personal reasons for joining the struggle. Those reasons didn't always jibe. As we'll see in the stories of Carranza, Obregón, Villa, and Zapata, they were able to unite behind the goal of overthrowing Huerta who they saw as a usurper. That was essentially all they had in common, though.

Why do you think that Madero maintained so much of the old regime when he was elected president? What were his goals for the Revolution?
