…ster Plutarco Elias Calles as his successor opened the door for de la Huerta to launch a rebellion. Obregon was able to put down the uprising quickly. The revolution did not come to an end until Plutarco Elias Calles came to power and was able to develop a succession plan, though not particularly democratic. By creating a political party large enough to contain a diverse assortment of revolutionaries that would rubber stamp the outgoing president’s handpicked successor, the problem of presidential succession could be solved.
